Bloom in Your Winter Season

Babbie Mason

A little over ten years ago, I attended a conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. The keynote speaker and worship leader that year was none other than Babbie Mason. I had heard of Babbie but had never met her. She told us about someone she had met in a store and while they were in line the woman bared her soul. Babbie gave her a blessing right there in line.

On the way up to my room I was privileged to be in the elevator with only Babbie. I asked her if she’d give me a blessing and she sang me the most beautiful blessing. From that moment on I’ve strived to be more like Babbie because she exudes love for Christ and others. Babbie and I have shared many moments since then.

I’ve been a guest on her television show, Babbie’s House, more than once and we’ve had the opportunity to meet for lunch several times. I’ve also been blessed to be a speaker at Inner Circle, the conference she hosts for songwriters and authors.

When I read Babbie’s newsletter this month I was touched by her words. Babbie has been in ministry for many years and has worn many different hats. Babbie and I are both seasoned women – actually I think we are the same age. But what really struck me is that Babbie is still going strong in her ministry and continues to amaze me with her zeal to help others.

I asked Babbie if it was all right to share her words from the newsletter on my blog and she graciously agreed. Babbie I can’t thank you enough for being a mentor to me (and hundreds of others) over the years. What a blessing to be able to share your wisdom and experience with other seasoned women. Without further ado, lets read what Babbie had to say in her newsletter.

Do you know that 38 years ago when I quit my job as a middle high school music and English teacher, my goal was to sing in concerts, record my music and share that music in churches as a concert artist? I never dreamed 38 years later, I’d be doing that and so much more. You see, singing led to writing songs for myself and other recording artists such as Cece Winans, Helen Baylor, Larnelle Harris, Ron Kenoly, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, and many others. My music is in movies such as Denzel Washington’s blockbuster, Deja Vu. Writing songs led to writing books. That led to public speaking and teaching the Bible at women’s conferences.

Then God opened the door to host my own television show, Babbie’s House, and run my own internet radio station at BabbieMasonRadio.com. All of that came together as I host The Inner Circle workshops and seminars, where I mentor the next generation of singers, songwriters, authors and speakers. Best of all, those opportunities led me straight to you! When you operate in God’s economy, one thing leads to another. You go from glory to glory.

God is not finished with me yet! I just completed my master’s degree in African American Worship Studies from Trevecca University in Nashville, Tennessee. I am doing this so that I can be prepared for the next season of ministry God has assigned to me. God is doing amazing things!

God is not finished with you yet! I trust you are about your Father’s business, working on and walking out His assignment for you at this season. Regardless of your age or stage in life, there is no expiration date on God’s plan for you! Remember Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you a future and a hope.”

This year I will continue in my position as a worship leader at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. Leading people into God’s presence is the highest calling on my life. Worship is more than a song. Worship is giving God glory with your entire life – heart, soul, mind and strength. I have the opportunity of working with a great team of gifted musicians and technical people who set the stage for worship each Sunday morning. I invite you to join us in worship at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. For the complete schedule of dates, I will be leading worship, go to: Babbie.com/event. I hope to see you very soon!
