Bloom in Your Winter Season

INTERVIEW WITH DARLENE LARSON

by Deborah Malone and Rita Prochezka

QUESTIONS BY RITA

Darlene, can you share some of your testimony with our readers

My smile and joy are a testament of what only God can do. Entrusted with a story of tremendous loss, betrayal, and deception, God is using every ounce of emotional pain I experienced to let women and men know that God heals mutilated hearts and there is life beyond emotional pain. As founder of Hearts with a Purpose, I coach women around the world to recycle pain to purpose. But GOD! He heals decimated hearts!

In your walk with God, in this season of your life, what have you learned?

He is faithful. And yet, without faith it is impossible to please God, therefore, we are meant to continue to step out to the unknown by faith and let God be God.

And to fear Him is the fear to have, “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge.” (Proverbs 14:26 NASB)

How have you prepared/been prepared for your ministry?

I am a question asker, a learner, a lover of the Word and of the Lord, a passionate teacher, a responsible woman, and a writer. These equipped me and through the power of the Holy Spirit, I endured living in an oppression for a quarter of a century while I faced extreme emotional pain while living in an abusive marriage. I help women pivot their pain to purpose.

I hold a BA in education as well as Coaching Certifications as a Life Purpose Coach, Grief-Loss Coach, Recovery Coach, and Life Coach.

QUESTIONS BY DEBORAH

What advice would you give to other “seasoned” women on ways they can stay active in ministry?

Stay in the Word. Apply the Word. Believe and be held accountable and/or be coached to help you find your purpose during this winter season of your life.

Tell us a little about your ministry.

I am a seasoned life purpose and grief-loss coach, and also an accomplished author. My fifth book, focusing on grief and loss, is set to release in 2024. I’ve been recognized as a leading Christian Life Purpose Coach, and I specialize in helping women find purpose in adversity.

Using online resources, I connect with women throughout the world offering a complimentary short coach call and newsletters. I am a sought-after speaker for various organizations, and my entrepreneurial venture, Hearts with a Purpose, helps women worldwide to find purpose through their pain. Certified in Life Purpose Coaching, Grief-loss Coaching, and Recovery Coaching, and my educational background, personal story, and teaching experience underline my commitment to empowering women on their life journey.

In 2023, I was honored as a recipient of the 16 over 60 Awards in Kent County (Grand Rapids, MI). Sixteen engaging and inspiring individuals are chosen being sixty years of age or more.

What challenges have you had to overcome in this time in your “seasoned” ministry?

You have already read some of it, but also the writing of books. I was a reluctant writer but GOD enables. It thrills me that in 2024 one of my longtime dream books will be published, yet it is on the topic of grief and loss and where I share the deepest betrayal I ever faced. I help others learn how to grieve, receive, and then in time offer comfort to others.
